What wine goes with what curry?

7 o'clock and I'm a little schnockered. But the Santa Carolina Chardonnay was so good with my what's in the pantry chicken curry. Drum sticks, hot Madras curry, dried chilies, canned pineapple chunks and a bit of the juice, whole milk, dried coconut flakes, raisins, walnut meats, carrots, cauliflower, oil to brown the chicken and s&p.

Op-Ed Contributor - Free-Range Trichinosis - NYTimes.com:

"Editors' Note: April 14, 2009

An Op-Ed article last Friday, about pork, neglected to disclose the source of the financing for a study finding that free-range pigs were more likely than confined pigs to test positive for exposure to certain pathogens. The study was financed by the National Pork Board."

Justin Fornal, a k a Baron Ambrosia, Unveils a Variety of Cuisines in ‘Bronx Flavor’ - NYTimes.com

Justin Fornal, a k a Baron Ambrosia, Unveils a Variety of Cuisines in ‘Bronx Flavor’ - NYTimes.com: "And ... cut!

The cameraman, Raymond Pagnucco, signaled his approval, and it was on to the next shot, in the restaurant’s tiny kitchen.

Mr. Pagnucco set up a single light as the owners, Rafael Mata Sr. and his wife, Susana, bustled to make room. The Baron clanked in on his pointy silver-capped cowboy boots and began poking around, asking questions about the Southern Mexican cuisine on the menu — What was the difference between a cemita and a torta? Do they ever cook with chumiles, a tiny, fragrant insect sometimes used in salsa?"

I looked at several beet recipes last night and didn't see one I liked. I should have gone two further because this sounds pretty good.

Annie Chun's Udon Soup Bowl

J picked up a couple of Annie Chun products recently, at Trader Joe's I think. One I liked the other I didn't care for. The Udon Soup Bowl was pretty good, easy to do in the microwave and tasty with Udon, the fat ones, noodles and a vegetable flavor. I'll have that again but not too often because there was one drawback. The salt/sodium content per serving is listed at what seems like an acceptable level until you realize that there are two servings per bowl. Seen that way the salt/sodium consumed by eating the entire thing doubles and becomes, in my opinion, a much less healthy choice. Just divide it in two? Not practical especially if you have it at the office like the box suggests. For starters there's only one bowl and if you only eat half the contents that's not enough food for a satisfying lunch.

The other product was the Teriyaki Noodles. I just had those twenty minutes ago and for my taste they were too sweet and the flavor too strong for the noodles. And they were salty too. I can still taste them and while I didn't look at the nutritional info on the package I've been drinking a bottle of water while I wrote this and it's not quenching my thirst.

I MUST make this. I MUST. But first I have to find out what a sautoir is.

Scrambled Eggs With Mushrooms

Pare, wash and slice half a pound of fresh mushrooms, put them in a sautoir; cover, shake the sautoir once in awhile and cook ten minutes. Break and beat five or six eggs in a saucepan, adding seasoning of salt, pepper, nutmeg and one-half ounces of butter cut into bits. Add the mushrooms, set over the fire, stir constantly with wooden paddle, and when eggs are thick and creamy turn into a heated dish, garnish
